This mesmerizing and relishing poetry of the song is written by Dina Nath Madhok and beautiful melody is composed by Gyan Dutt Ji - one of the greatest music directors of his time for the movie Naa'o. She was born in Lahore -Pakistan on 25 November 1929. She made her debut from Lahore Radio Station in 1943. The family relocated to Delhi (India) following the partition of India in 1947. Later, they moved to Bombay. She sang many songs as a playback singer in Hindi movies like Shaheed and Kaneez by Ghulam Haider, Daada by Nashad, Sunehray Din, Naa'o by Gyan Dutt, Sabaq by Allah Rakha, Piyar ki Jeet by Hussan Lal Bhaghat Ram etc. She is most famous for her Punjabi folk songs, which are more than 2000. At a very young age she was married to Joginder Singh Sodhi, a University Professor. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, the Millennium Punjabi Singer Award, and the Padma Shri Award. She passed away on 15 June 2006 in New Jersey, USA.
